As FC Tucson chases a USL League One Championship, the club added one of its biggest signings in history with the addition of Argentine left winger Franco Peréz.
Peréz will head to Tucson for the 2022 season on loan from Primera División team Club Atletico Aldosivi, pending league and federation approval.
“He’s a seasoned professional, he’s played in big games, he’s played against Boca Juniors,” said FC Tucson Head Coach Jon Pearlman. “This is a player who understands pressure and responsibility and strives to be great in every game.”
He joins the club after spending three years in the first team at Aldosivi, playing 677 total minutes over 19 appearances and grabbing one assist. He has played a total of 103 minutes over four games in Argentina’s domestic cup, Copa de la Liga.
The Argentinian is making his first international move by joining FC Tucson. He began his professional career with Aldosivi when he was promoted to the first team during the 2018-19 season. He made his first appearance with the senior squad against San Lorenzo where he assisted Aldosivi’s second equalizer in the 2-2 tie.
“He’s a great ball striker, can use his right and left foot, can beat players on the dribble, has creativity and is very aggressive and physically tough,” FC Tucson Head Coach Jon Pearlman said. “He’s played against the toughest of the tough opponents and for us to get a player of his caliber is very exciting.”
Peréz is the 20th player on the FC Tucson’s 2022 roster. He joins six returning starters from the 2021 playoff team, including forwards Deri Corfe and Gio Calixtro.
