FC Tucson Launches 2022 Barrio 2 Barrio Events With Arizona Complete Health
Three Dates Announced as Tucson’s Pro Soccer Club Brings Health Drive to The Community
TUCSON, Ariz. – With the goal of celebrating healthy communities, FC Tucson is bringing back its popular Barrio 2 Barrio series this summer. To enhance the experience in 2022, Tucson’s professional soccer club has partnered with Arizona Complete Health, whose mission is improving the health of the community one person at a time.
The first Barrio 2 Barrio presented by Arizona Complete Health will kick off from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 11, at North Santa Cruz Park in Sahuarita. The second will take place from 9-11 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 28 at Summit View Elementary, and Gladden Farms will host the third in Marana from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 8.
The Barrio 2 Barrio presented by Arizona Complete Health, first rolled out by FC Tucson last summer, includes painting stations, fun challenge games – including the club’s inflatable soccer goal – music, contests and giveaways, and player appearances.
All three Barrio 2 Barrios presented by Arizona Complete Health will also include youth soccer clinics run by FC Tucson’s professional staff and players. Attendees can expect wellness checks provided by key community health providers, mental health, and performance coaches, and much more. The youth soccer clinics are adapted for novice and recreational players ages six to 12 who might be looking to learn more about the game, sharpen skills, have fun, and make friends. The Barrio 2 Barrio events are free, and the soccer clinics have limited spots available and must be pre-registered. “When we began this initiative last year, we were in a very different place as a community, focusing on safely reopening, distributing vaccinations, and bringing neighbors out after lockdowns. Now it’s time to celebrate the health of our communities,” said FC Tucson President Amanda Powers. “Having Arizona Complete Health’s support further strengthens the bond between our club and the community as we team up to set an example, not just through our words, but our actions as well.”
“Arizona Complete Health is invested in improving the health of our community, and we’re pleased to partner with FC Tucson on this amazing program,” said Martha Smith, Plan President and CEO of Arizona Complete Health. “Our programs drive local involvement, and the Barrio 2 Barrio is a prime example of community-based organizations working together to create expanded wellness opportunities.”
