TUCSON, Ariz – Tyler Allen and Gio Calixtro grabbed two successive goals back-to-back to give FC Tucson its third and final victory of the preseason, 2-0 over Pima Community College on Sunday at Kino North Complex.
Pima is a perennial NJCAA power, having gone to the national tournament six times in the past seven seasons, including winning last year’s Division II Championship and and the 2018 Division I title.
The game lasted 60 minutes with FC Tucson deploying its starters for the full time.
An early challenge on Louis Perez led to an FC Tucson penalty kick, but the kick was saved by Pima’s goalkeeper Juan Suarez, a Desert View graduate.
Tyler Allen converted shortly after. A through ball from Calixtro sent Allen between Pima’s center backs where he easily dribbled around and sent it past the Pima goalkeeper.
