FC Tucson adds to its presence in the middle of the pitch for 2022 with the signing of midfielder Mueng Sunday.
The club announced Wednesday the signing of 28-year-old Sunday, who previously played with Oklahoma City Energy FC of the USL Championship.
“I’m excited for the high expectations that have been set by everyone in the club,” Sunday said. “I can’t wait to take the field with the guys in front of the supporters.”

The Nigerian native played collegiately with Drake University between 2013 and ’16. He made 72 appearances for the Bulldogs, scoring four goals and grabbing 10 assists.
He went on to play with Des Moines Menace of the USL League Two for six seasons. He helped the club to three regular-season championships and five Heartland Division titles.
“He has a great engine, good work ethic, great range of passing and a professional attitude,” said FC Tucson Head Coach Jon Pearlman. “He brings Championship experience from last year and can give us some depth in the central midfield that is critical for our long term success.”
Sunday is the 25th player on FC Tucson’s 2022 roster. He joins six returning starters from the 2021 playoff team, including midfielder Daniel Bedoya.
The signing is pending league and federation approval.
