The FC Tucson Pro Academy continues to grow with the signing of local talent Nick Hanus.
Hanus signed a Designated Academy (DA) contract that allows him to compete with the senior team in USL League One and with the FC Tucson Pro Academy in the USL Academy League. He also maintains college eligibility under the contract.
He previously played with the Arizona Barca Residency Academy and Salpointe Catholic High School. He made 38 appearances over two years with Salpointe before graduating in 2021.
In his senior year at Salpointe, he appeared in all 15 games, scoring seven goals and adding a pair of assists as the team went 14-0-1 en route to the 2021 4A State Championship.
“Nick has a great technical skill set, he’s an incredibly intelligent player and his physical profiles allow him to play multiple spots,” said FC Tucson Head Coach Jon Pearlman. “He’s a player who has a great range of passing, is a good ball striker, has good vision and is showing the kind of ability that he may be able to play at the next level.”
Hanus is the sixth player to sign a DA contract with FC Tucson Pro Academy. He joins three returning players from the inaugural 2021 team, including Jerod Allen, Brandon Sanchez and Emiliano Andraux.
The signing is pending league and federation approval.
