The FC Tucson juggernaut rolls into Phoenix Wednesday.
At 5-0-1, Tucson needs just one point from its last two games to clinch the Desert Conference of the Women's Premier Soccer League title outright. And first up is SC del Sol, the same team Tucson beat 3-0 in its home finale Saturday.
The game is at Reach 11 Soccer Complex in Phoenix at 7 p.m.
Tucson wraps up the 2021 campaign at El Paso Surf (0-6-1) on Saturday, and is on the verge of extending its dominance that started in 2018. That season, the club won its first championship playing in the Pac South. The following year, they shared the Desert Division crown in the Pac South but missed the playoffs on a tiebreaker. And last year was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hope Hisey was a youth player on that 2018 title team and is now the starting goalkeeper at the University of Arizona. Hisey, Maury Urcadez, Laura Pimienta and Bri Barreiro have also been part of the 2018 and '19 runs in addition to being on this year's squad.
Luz Duarte, who has a pair of goals in four appearances for the Mexican National Team, has powered the Tucson attack. Her pair of goals in the first meeting with SC del Sol gave her sole possession of FC Tucson's singe-season scoring mark. Duarte has eight goals, two more than Kaitlyn Lopez had in Tucson's inaugural season (2013) and Allison Raniere had in 2018.
