TUCSON, Ariz. (Aug 27, 2019) — FC Tucson forward Jordan Jones and midfielder Erik Virgen were named to the USL League One Team of the Week for Week 22 of the 2019 USL League One season the league announced today.
In last Saturday’s 3-1 win over against Orlando City B, Jones rounded the Orlando goalkeeper to find the back of the net for the sixth time this season. The insurance goal gave FC Tucson a 2-0 lead going into halftime. Jones also recorded an assist and completed 15 of 26 passes in the contest.
Erik “Gallo” Virgen recorded his first professional goal in the 69th minute of last Saturday's match. Jones found Virgen with a centering pass near the top of the box and the first-year pro smashed the ball home to extend the home side’s lead to 3-0.
This is the 17th week overall that an FC Tucson player has been recognized by the league.
FC Tucson will be back in action Friday, August 30th when the club plays host to Chattanooga Red Wolves SC at Kino North Stadium.
FC Tucson holds an all-time record of 1-0-1 over Chattanooga Red Wolves SC. Kickoff is set for 7:30 P.M. and the match will be streamed via ESPN.
