FC Tucson is proud to have teamed up with Chicanos Por La Causa (CPLC) since 2020 and look forward to continuing our mission together to promote healthier and stronger communities in Tucson and Southern Arizona.
Through the beautiful game, FC Tucson and CPLC forge new paths that will awe and inspire the youth of our community while creating a new generation of mentors and leaders. Together, there is little doubt that we can have a positive impact on Southern Arizona. Here are some of the ways we work together,
- Bringing professional players, students, and Parents-as-Teachers into sports as a strategic teaching tool, expansion of ParaLosNinos for students 12-19 years of age, and building a more comprehensive workforce for tomorrow.
- Growing and enhancing the game by providing coaching, personalized skill development, nutrition, strength training, and mentorship opportunities between players, coaches, and the student-athletes of CPLC Community Schools, Toltecalli and Envision, sports program.
- Identifying and supporting women leaders and using sports as a tool for teaching and learning.
Chicanos Por La Causa was founded in 1969 to confront oppression facing Latinos in Phoenix, Arizona as part of the movement led by Cesar Chavez. Since then, CPLC has become one of the largest Hispanic nonprofits in the country, promoting stronger and healthier communities throughout the southwestern United States.
The CPLC community spans across a comprehensive range of bilingual and bi-cultural services in Health & Human Services, Housing, Education, and Economic Development. As one of the largest community development corporations in Arizona, CPLC is focused on individuals and families with low to moderate-income levels and complements their services with cultural and linguistic competencies.
