Gordon Hall, Briley Guarneri, and Kevin Blackwood return from last year’s side to make another national championship run.

They are joined by our first pair of new faces for the summer, Giovanny Vazquez and Esteban Berumen.

Hall was a force to be reckoned with in the backline last summer in Tucson, earning All-PDL Western Conference honors for helping the Men in Black record six shutouts on the way to the number one seed.

The University of Northern British Columbia star was also honored for his efforts during the collegiate season, earning Canada West Second Team honors.

Briley Guarneri rejoins the squad after another fantastic year at Colorado Mesa University between the sticks. Briley was named the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Student Athlete of the Year, and also earned RMAC Tournament MVP.

It marked the first time in school history Colorado Mesa won both the RMAC regular season and tournament titles, while only picking up one loss in the regular season before advancing to the school’s third straight NCAA Tournament appearance.

Cleveland State’s Kevin Blackwood will also return to Tucson this summer. The Jamaican defender provides a physical presence on the pitch, and provides the type of athleticism that allows him to slide into either a defensive or midfield role.

Blackwood will most likely look to slide in at right back, but can also step into a defensive midfield position with his ability to hold the ball.

Giovanny Vazquez, a 6’2” center back, brings with him PDL playoff experience already after playing for GPS Maine during the 2016 season.

The Utah native was a valuable member of the Wolverines’ defense this year, helping the club record 10 clean sheets to help pave the way to a Western Athletic Conference regular season championship.

FC Tucson set a club record for goals in a season in 2016. Esteban Berumen could help that record fall quickly.

Esteban Berumen, a 5’9 midfielder out of Pittsburg, California, earned D2CCA First Team All-American honors for his junior season, adding to his accolades as a two time National Player of the Week and First Team All-West Region selection.

Berumen’s school record 15 goals led all midfielders in the country, while also leading in total points. He played for the Las Vegas Mobsters during the 2016 PDL campaign
