TUCSON, Ariz. — Celebrate Independence Day a day early with FC Tucson this year, as the Men in Black take on the Albuquerque Sol Monday, July 3rd at 7 p.m. before a spectacular fireworks display after.
Fans will have the opportunity to get a free exclusive FC Tucson team poster upon entry, and will be able to enjoy $1 beer and $1 popsicles. After the game, we’ll invite everyone down to the field to pick a spot for the display and get your posters signed by the entire team.
The Men in Black will first face Albuquerque on the road this Saturday, July 1st where they’ll have the chance to clinch the Golden Rattler, awarded annually to the winner of the season series.
Tucson took a step closer to retaining the Rattler after a convincing 3-1 win over the Sol in the Citi Southwest Showdown, presented by Bodycentral Physical Therapy.
The win marked FC Tucson’s 50th victory in PDL play, and Moshe Perez netted the team’s 300th goal in regular season play.
The official trophy presentation will happen after the 3rd of July game, which has traditionally been one of Tucson’s most electric fixtures.
Last year, Tate Schmitt re-wrote the FC Tucson record book, scoring in the 32nd second to mark the fastest goal scored in team history in a 3-1 win over LA Laguna.
Schmitt then added another in the 54th minute, leading to one of the better goal celebrations in the team’s history.
After winning 6 of 7 and having a few results fall their way, the Men in Black now sit within striking distance of the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference, sitting five points behind the Fresno Fuego with a game in hand.
Bring the family as we celebrate Independence Day on the field with a bang! Tickets are available online now, for more information about the club be sure to follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
