The 2017 Desert Diamond Cup kicks off February 18th at Kino North Stadium where we’ll welcome back some familiar faces as well as a newcomer.

The New England Revolution will look to defend their 2016 Desert Diamond Cup as they return to Tucson for preseason action. Forward Kei Kamara took home the Copper Boot last year, awarded to the tournament’s highest goalscorer.

The Revs will take on the Western Conference Finalists Colorado Rapids, who are coming off an impressive season that saw them catapult to the top of the standings after a lackluster season the year before. Phoenix native and head coach Pablo Mastroeni will be looking to lead his side to further glory this year as Tim Howard and Shkelzen Gashi hunt for an MLS Cup title.

The New York Red Bulls return to Tucson for the Cup for the first time since its inception in 2011, when they faced off against Sporting Kansas City at Hi Corbett Field. Fans will see a repeat of that meeting, as Dom Dwyer and Graham Zusi of SKC clash with the Red Bulls dynamic duo of Bradley Wright-Phillips and Sacha Klestjan.

The Houston Dynamo will also return to Tucson for the Cup with new head coach Wimer Cabrera at the helm, as they take on powerhouse newcomers New York City Football Club. David Villa and Andrea Pirlo will look to make their first trip to Tucson a memorable one, with a potential matchup against the Red Bulls for the championship looming.
