TUCSON, Ariz. — After nearly a month on the road packed away in vans together, FC Tucson returns to Kino tomorrow Friday, June 2nd at 7 p.m. as they take on FC Boulder U23.
Finishing tends to be the last thing to come when building chemistry in a new side, and if the last match is any indication, the vans have served the team well.
The Men in Black are fresh off a 5-0 thrashing of the Colorado side, closing out a rough month of traveling that included trips to San Diego, Albuquerque, and two separate visits to Colorado for both PDL and U.S. Open Cup matches.
The tally of five goals marked the 15th time the club has put away five or more goals in a match in team history, and the seventh such time in league play.
Moshe Perez earned PDL Team of the Week honors for his hat trick over Boulder, while Daniel Krutzen added his third goal in the last four matches as the attack seems to be hitting its stride.
Perez’s hat trick was just the fifth in FC Tucson history, and only the fourth achieved in PDL play. It was the first hat trick since Afonso Pinheiro netted three in a 5-1 home win over the Ventura County Fusion at home last season.
The match is only the third of the season for Boulder, whose only other result this year was a 0-0 with Colorado Rapids U23 at home.
Tucson will be searching for the first home PDL win of the year after spending almost a month on the road, and are looking forward to being back in the friendly confines of Kino.
“The way that the schedule is set up, we have an opportunity to make a real run in front of our own fans,” head coach Jon Pearlman said. “There are a lot of venues in the PDL, but few that can compare to Kino.”
