When FC Tucson kicks off the club’s Premier Development League season this May, they’ll take the field with a few familiar faces.

The Men in Black will be lead by veterans Edgar Reyna, Ozzie Ramos, and Kalem Scott this season, who will all feature in at least their third season with the club.

They’ll be joined by 2016 standouts Tate Schmitt and Afonso Pinheiro, who were key in leading the team to the highest goal scoring tally in a season in club history (41).

Tucson native Edgar Reyna returns as the club’s all time leader in appearances with 62. Time and time again, Reyna’s versatility continues to make him a favorite option for FC Tucson’s coaching staff as he enters his sixth season at Kino.

2015 All-PDL defender Kalem Scott will help anchor a backline this season which will hope to replicate the success of last year’s side, who recorded seven shutouts.

Scott returns as one of the fastest players in the country, and his ability to chase down forwards on a counter attack has proven to make him one of the most valuable defenders around.

In Ozzie Ramos, head coach Jon Pearlman has a calming force in the midfield. Ramos’ ability to hold the ball in the center of the pitch and win it back have carved him a valuable role in the club’s last two trips to the Western Conference Finals.

Pinheiro, who set the single-season scoring record last season with 10 goals, will have his eye on a record held by Real Salt Lake man Ricardo Velazco, who holds the all-time scoring record with 16 during his time in Tucson.

Schmitt etched his own name in the record books last season, scoring the fastest goal in team history in front of a packed 4th of July weekend crowd against LA Laguna FC after 32 seconds.

The Louisville man is fresh off a season in which he featured heavily for the Cardinals, starting all 22 matches while scoring five goals and adding two assists during their run to the Elite Eight.
